MEET OUR PASTOR
Gregory Fontus, Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor of Beacon Light Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kansas City, MO—a thriving, multigenerational, and mission-driven community where all are welcomed to grow, serve, and belong. Pastor Fontus embodies a rare blend of spiritual depth and real-world insight, merging pastoral leadership and discipleship with culturally relevant preaching, transformative outreach, and social advocacy. His calling is clear: to make known that the teachings of Jesus Christ form the foundation for personal growth, healthy relationships, strong families, and vibrant communities.
A native of Miami, FL, and proudly of Haitian descent, Pastor Fontus holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Education from the University of South Florida. He also earned a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, concentrating in Black Church Studies.
He is the author of Live Intentional: A 31-Day Journey of Purpose With God, a devotional that guides readers in living a life aligned with God’s plan. Alongside his wife, he co-authored Growing With God: 31 Days for Kids to Shine Bright, a devotional activity and coloring book for children, and Living Boldly: 31 Days of Faith and Intentionality for Pre-Teens, a devotional designed to help pre-teens grow in faith and confidence.
Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Fontus is a passionate advocate for holistic community development. His leadership extends into neighborhood revitalization efforts, partnerships with local schools, and the design of impactful initiatives focused on financial literacy, family wellness, and mental health.
He is joyfully married to his best friend and life partner Schari, and together they are raising two wonderful children, Ariella and Gregory II. His life is anchored in the promise of Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This verse is more than a favorite—it is the foundation of his ministry and message. It reminds him daily of God’s relentless grace, unconditional love, and the redemptive power available to all who choose to live intentionally for Christ.
