MEET OUR PASTOR
Greg Fontus is the current Senior Pastor of the Beacon Light SDA Church, a growing and all in multigenerational, multifunctional, and multi-growing place of belonging located in Kansas City, MO. He embodies a rare balance of spiritual gifts and practical life experiences that intersects pastoral leadership and discipleship teaching with culturally relevant preaching, mission-driven outreach, and community social action. He has a purpose and calling of making known that the teaching of Jesus Christ are the foundations for personal living, interpersonal relationships, family stability, and community development.
As a native of Miami, Fl and one of Haitian descent, Pastor Fontus holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Education from the University of South Florida. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University with a concentration in Black Church Studies.
Pastor Fontus is blessed to have influence that extends beyond the local church. He is a passionate advocate for community transformation and development, as seen in his work with various neighborhood associations, community partnerships with local public schools, and the planning and implementation of various community initiatives centered around financial literacy, family development, and mental health and wellness.
He is happily married to his best friend and wife, Schari and together they have two children: Ariella and Greg II. His favorite scripture comes from Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
